Sales Internship with Ashland Hercules Water Technologies

The Ashland Hercules Water Technologies (AHWT) business unit of Ashland is a leading supplier of performance, process, and water treatment solutions to the paper, pulp, chemical, commercial and institutional, food and beverage, and municipal industries worldwide. This division provides a wide range of technology and services and a large team of field representatives to the industry. Our success can be attributed to the caliber of technical sales representatives who work to solve problems and raise the standard of operation at our customers' paper mills.

Intern Program Description

A Sales Internship with Ashland is an opportunity to begin to learn the business of technical sales and service by working closely with highly skilled AHWT sales representatives. It is an opportunity to learn about the chemical industry, problem solving and project management. Each intern will be assigned important projects to manage, which will include sales planning, analytical testing/interpretation and customer interface. This allows the intern to fully experience a number of aspects of a Technical Sales career with Ashland Hercules Water Technologies. In addition, the interns are evaluated by AHWT as a potential entry-level new hire. An internship with AHWT is a great way to gain valuable experience in the chemical industry, develop real world skills and position you for a rewarding career.

Position: Technical Sales Intern

Job Description: The Technical Sales intern position is responsible for assisting AHWT personnel with troubleshooting, problem solving and continuous improvement associated with our products supplied to paper, pulp, chemical, commercial and institutional, food and beverage, and municipal industries. This technology is utilized to enhance the unit operations associated with energy generation, water treatment and, pulping and papermaking processes. In addition, Ashland supplies technology and services associated with the functionality and performance of paper. This involves projects associated with Ashland technology, value, support for existing programs, investigation of new opportunities and development of customer relationships.

Typical projects may include:

  • Planning and execution of new applications evaluations.
  • Provide service and technical support for our paper producing customers.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems for customers.
  • Work with the sales team to identify new business opportunities.
  • Grow business through new sales.

Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates will be working towards a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Pulp & Paper, Chemistry or equivalent.
  • The ability to speak English and excellent interpersonal skills are necessary for this position.
  • Prior experience with Pulp and Paper or Heavy Industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work individually and with the team.
  • The candidate must possess excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Candidates should have access to a car they can use during their internship.
  • Commitment to work safely and provide excellent customer service.
